MERV 8 air filters have a lower quality rating in terms of effectiveness for air conditioning filters, but they are, reportedly, the most commonly used in the home, and a common choice for apartment complexes as they offer above-average air filtration for their price. However, MERV 11 or MERV 13 flters would offer a step-up in air quality.
